Minutes of Twinning Meeting held Wed. 10th July

 

Present. Jim Whitfield, Martin Cox, Tricia and John Sharp, Brigitte Bouderiat,

Michelle Robillard, Mark Haddam, Toni and Christine Mündel. guests -Mel Healey

 

Apologies. Sheila Mullen.

 

1. Martin opened the meeting and welcomed Melanie Healey who is going to

Nogent to stay with Valery ,in August.

 

2. Minutes of last meeting moved and accepted. No matters arising not covered

in reports.

 

3.Reports.   Membership at present -24. Melanie to be added !.

 

Treasurer.- Balance as per Pass Book -£ 639.32 . This

includes recent income from Photos, donations and subs. A further £ 5.00 to be

banked from Michelle.  This was a pleasing balance considering the Nogent

visit had emptied the account.

 

It was also agreed that we enter the Minster Xmas Tree festival again. Jim to book and pay £50.00

 

 On behalf of the Anglo French Society Michelle agreed to share cost of tree as usual.

 

Next film night, "La Gloire de Mon Pére," , 25th. Oct.  Newbald.

 

4. Nogent vIsit . High points. The Bempton Cliff visit. Green Dragon

breakfast, The Town Council reception, well attended if rather chaotic. Aike

Vineyard too cool for Al fresco dining. The Tennis and bowls club on

Norwood. Offered excellent tea and cakes. Grateful thanks offered to Nancy.

  

5. Autumn Visit by Fucheccio 2025 . 1st weekend in Sept. ??  Poss. activities

.Brewery visit, Beverley Races, Michaelmas Fair, a visit to Bish. Burton Coll.

equestrian centre ..Hull museums/ art gallery. ?

 

6. Lemgo/Hansa. Toni reported Hansa activity suspended because of financial

costs but there is an international rally in Gothland ,Sweden in June .

Stendhal are seeking a formal friendship agreement like Fucheccio's with the

Town Council.

 

Martin  also reported we have an invitation to attend Nogent’s celebration of

their German twinning with Gasthoffen  , May/June 2025. Who might attend ?

 

7. Social Activities. Film Night, Oct. Newbald  , Meal at Elwells on 28th.Nov.

Names to Martin please ! Planning a wine tasting night. Through Majestic or

use of the Monks Walk and Carrie Smith's expertise to be explored around Late

January, 2025.

 

8. Town Council.  No report given.

 

9. Group links. Martin reported successful student placements of Cosimo ,

Alexandro and Iaccopo at the Library, Cherry Tree Social Pantry and Kings

Church warehouse. Also see Mel Healy's visit in August.I

 

10 A.O.B.  Martin reported in possibility of taking part in the Big Bench

community project. This involves building a giant bench from which to view

Beverley 's beauty spots. Pasture Masters not interested. Locations ?
